WHAT WE DO
Delivering projects from inception to handover, our team can step in at any stage of the project lifecycle.
Client-side project management is our core focus.
-
Property and construction projects are complex and can have integrated lifecycles. Bateup Consulting provides project management services throughout the project lifecycle, from strategy to concept, through to design and construction, and to the handover of a project.
Our project managers work closely with your teams, including design teams, to develop and achieve project objectives to benefit you.
-
On a construction project, the client is often required to appoint a Superintendent who at all times is there to fulfil the roles and functions under the construction contract.
Superintendents’ representatives when certifying or giving an assessment or decision should act honestly and reasonably and not be a party to the construction contract.
Our team can provide Superintendent services acting reasonably, honestly and independently.
-
A Design Manager has an enabling and coordinating role but does not act as a designer.
Our design managers work closely with your teams and consultants, working towards creating the right result for your project. Key elements they coordinate are:Establishing a platform for good communication and collaboration between relevant parties and thereby an effective flow of design and production information.
De-risking design problems by finding solutions before they materialise.
Contributing to planning and coordination in a way that adds value to the processes.
Preparing, managing and securing all-party ownership of an integrated design programme.
This requires a great deal of experience, and our design managers are good forward planners, capable of managing project timescales, and with the requisite knowledge for coordinating the design process by current legislation, standards and codes of practice.

A risk is a potential event, either internal or external to a project, that, if it occurs, may cause the project to fail to meet one or more of its objectives. Risk management aims to recognise potential problems as early as possible so that the opportunity for taking effective action is maximised.
Our approach to Risk management, by AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009, is the process of identifying risk, assessing risk, and taking steps to reduce risk to an acceptable level. The risk management approach determines the processes, techniques, tools, and team roles and responsibilities for a specific project. To determine the most appropriate risk management strategy, the appropriateness of risk transfer is a key element, it is important to understand the level of risk for a project.
Through our risk management workshops, risks are discussed and assessed, and an appropriate risk score is assigned. Then, viable mitigation strategies are discussed and noted for implementation.
We recognise risks exist and actively manage them. By looking ahead at potential events that may impact the project and putting actions in place, project teams can proactively manage risks and increase the chances of successfully delivering the project. -
Procurement Management is the process of purchasing goods or services and there are different routes by which the design and construction of a building can be procured. The selected route should follow a strategy that fits the long-term objectives of the client's business plan.
We run workshops for procurement management, working closely with your teams and consultants, creating the right result for your project. Considerations for procurement can include, time, cost quality, but are not limited to these constraints. Understanding the constraints and the risks of the projects allows decisions to be made around procurement routes. We believe in our ability to provide tailored and innovative solutions for clients to help achieve their vision.

Successful project implementation relies on engagement with an organisation’s people. Change in the workplace is a journey for everyone. With workplace strategy and project delivery, success is dependent on the understanding, trust and adoption of stakeholders.
A positive and proactive change management process, considered early in the project lifecycle, prepares, equips and supports people through change. Using a structured approach allows people to move from their current state to a new opportunity.
Our change management team can assist by providing strategy development early in a project to customised tools to assist the change management process internally or we can provide hands-on management.
